Weekend

This weekend was crazy busy but a TON of fun!

Friday: I went and spent the night with about 15 6th and 7th grade girls. It was so much fun. I had a blast. We started off the night with some swimming. Then we came inside and changed and had some pizza and some other snacks. Then I lead some group games like name games and get to know you games. It was a ton of fun. Then at about 2:00a.m. we had a devotional. It was amazing. We let the girls pray and I think they prayed for close to an hour or so. It was awesome. I had so much fun listening to them. They prayed a lot about how to act when going to school and for courage to step out and be a Christian even if it means not following the crowd. Then after that was over we settled down and watched a few movies. At about 6:00a.m. we turned the tv off because most of them were asleep and we caught a few hours of shut eye. It was a fun night.

Saturday: I left the slumber party at around 8:30 a.m. and went home so my parents could pick me to go to Ralls to see my Nana (dads mom). Wednesday like tomorrow is her birthday. We had lunch and then we went to this thing called Ragtown Gospel Theater in post. It was so much fun. I was defiantly one of the youngest people there. If you want to see what the theater is like go to www.ragtown.com

Sunday: I went to church, napped, walkers, Ashleys to do laundry, and then to 9:00. It was a very restful day which was good since school started shortly after! :D I will post more on school later but for now I am off to work! :D

School

Well the internship is over and I am back to real life again. School starts in a week and I am starting to feel stressed. I have so much to do and not enough time to do it in. Then my lovely car decided that the windshield would break so now I have to add that to the list of things to do. OH JOY!

Anyway this weekend I have spent time in south Texas at my grandmas and it has been amazing. I am ready to get home and get things done and get back into a routine. Until then I will be running around getting things done. I hope to post soon on my overall experiance of my internship. This week should be a very productive one. :D

Two more days....

I can't believe that I only have two more days. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in my house getting ready for my internship. This summer has flown by and I am going to be sad to leave the kids. There are some that have made an impact in my life. I have a ton of pictures though so I will always remember. Today is water day and the last day for the preschoolers. It is bittersweet. Tomorrow is the last day for the elementary. I have to pack and finish a powerpoint before tomorrow. Today will be a busy day and I am sure I will cry when I tell the kids goodbye but I can always come back and visit. :D

Last week ;(

I cannot believe that this is the last week of my internship. It seems like just yesterday I was starting my internship. I think that this week will be bittersweet. I am excited about it all but I am sad that I have to say good-bye to the kids. I hope I get to come back and visit but I know how crazy my life can get sometimes but I am going to try. This week should be fun. Monday I am talking to the kids about Jesus dying on the cross and teaching a little bit about his last meal. Then Tuesday they have a dance lesson from the summer directors wife. Then Wednesday (the last day with the preschoolers) we are having a water day full of water balloons, popsicles, shaving cream fights, slip-n-slides and other fun water things. Then in the elementary they are having a closing celebration on Thursday that I will get to be a part of. So this week should be fun and I am looking forward to it but I guarantee that I cry at the end of the week. In my spare time this week I am also packing and getting ready to go south for this next weekend. I am going to go see my grandma before school starts! :D I have missed the river and I hear there isn't much left of one due to lack of rain but maybe it will flood and I will get stuck there. That could be fun and relaxing. We can always hope. I don't know when my next blog will be but I hope sometime soon. Until then...

Broken Heart

Today my heart is broken because a little friend of mine who is in the 7th grade just got done telling me that her dad who does crack wants her to give him another chance at taking care of her. Yesterday this child told me that she is tired of living with her dad because he doesn't know how to take care of her and she wants someone to take care of her for once so she was going to go live with her mom. After hearing her tell me this I almost started crying. I just can't believe that a 12 year old girl is dealing with this. Then I started thinking about all the kids I am working with at Fortress and how they are probably in the same situations if not worse ones. While thinking about this it made me think about how I want to help her and I want to be there for her when she feels like the world isn't. I am hoping that whatever happens to this girl that God can use me to be a good influence in her life. But for now all I can do is pray that God has his hand in the situation and pray for all the other kids I don't know who are struggling with the same things.
